Arquea Colectivo

Arquea Colectivo, the duo formed by sound artist Patricia Usero (aka Puntalaberinto) and visual artist Marzia Matarese, situates its field of work at the intersections of sound, image and biology, grounding its audiovisual performances in symbiosis with fungi, bacteria and other microorganisms.

Their practice brings together devices such as the modular synthesizer and the microscopic camera —often built from hacked systems— to generate video-sonic landscapes emerging from the dialogue between living organisms, electronic technologies and speculative imaginaries. Their pieces explore territories in tension between decomposing matter and invisible ecosystems, opening up non-linear readings of space and time.

Working within formats such as audiovisual performance and expanded cinema, their proposals question human centrality and activate forms of listening linked to multispecies ecologies. Their proposal for the Eufònic / Lo Pati 2021 residency, for instance, is based on the exploration of the microscopic landscapes of the Ebro Delta through a self-built device of microscopes connected to modular synthesis. Their trajectory includes presentations at festivals and venues such as Eufònic, L’Alternativa and Fabra i Coats, consolidating a practice that combines artistic research, experimentation and a direct relationship with territory.
