Canals — DIGIT Festival 2026
Canals is a Barcelona-based project that merges sound design, field recordings and foley techniques with contemporary live music. Their work revolves around experimentation with natural elements and their sonic registration, integrating these materials live through a combination of electronic and acoustic instruments.
Canals understands the performance space as an active element within the sonic experience, generating a dialogue between place, nature and musical creation. In recent performances, the duo has directly incorporated the environment into the sound process — for example, using trees as resonant instruments or employing a hydrophone during a live performance at Canino FM (Barcelona) to capture underwater sounds in real time.
Their music explores immersive sonic landscapes connecting progressive folk, trip-hop and experimental electronics, weaving together voice, electric and Spanish guitars, synthesizers, piano and complex rhythmic textures.
