Political (sub)division

Heeey

From an initial minimalist composition of two bands, the spaces are gradually subdivided, either autonomously and at random or through manual intervention.

Political (Sub)Division examines the rupture generated by political conflicts, which often give rise to rigid, imposed borders, offering a sombre reflection on the psychological cost of the dismemberment of territory and of violence.

The piece appears to meditate simultaneously on the tendency toward schism within certain political traditions and on the unpredictability of the direction and colour of the resulting forces, which are always diminished.

The visitors’ clicks trigger the fracture; they are both audience and executioner. If the one who presses the button occupies the position of the executor, what role does the one who merely observes and does not act assume?

Heeey is an artist, architect, and designer.

In his artistic practice, he creates systems through algorithms that allow him to explore concepts in depth from a minimalist approach, where the use of colour and simple geometries predominates.

Co-creation and interactivity are central elements in his work, inviting the user or visitor to take part in his algorithms and to contribute a subjective sensitivity that adds to the systematic variability of the piece.

By combining his background as an architect and extensive hands-on experience in the construction field with the creative coding that underpins his artistic practice, he creates generative sculptures made from a wide range of materials such as stone, wood, concrete, and brick. In 2024, À la Ville de won the Numèric Research and Creation Grant, and Totxana will be exhibited in 2026 at La Capella as part of the Barcelona Producció programme.

Within his digital work, Bright, Art Blocks 500 stands out; it has been exhibited at the Art Blocks Gallery in Marfa, Texas, at the Barcelona Generative Art Show, and at TGAM’s Continuum #9. His work has also been part of group exhibitions such as BYOD2 and Art Golden Gai in Tokyo, NFT NYC in New York, and has been shown at the Remote Control Gallery in Prague.
