Kazumi Sakoda

Kazumi Sakoda is the solo sonic project of the Japanese artist based in Barcelona. She works with field recordings, cassette tapes and sampling.

She records everyday sounds from the city — the metro, cafés, streets — and transforms them into live sonic landscapes.

She is interested in the way cities constantly change: even in the same place, sound is never the same. Some things disappear, others remain, and new sounds continuously emerge.

Her performances combine handmade cassette loops and improvisation, generating an attentive listening experience of urban life.

Her practice moves between ambient and experimental music.
